Charlie See encouraged girls for a beauty contest called the Rookies’ Pageant. The person who introduced the Miss Globe title to the world was not Charlie See, but Li Sun. LI SUN’S LIFE IS A TRUE DRAMA.
Li Sun described her adventure from Malaysia to the USA during the Second World War as follows:
I came to California from Malaysia in 1942 as an illegal immigrant. Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate was organizing a large open-air show under the title of Festival of Beauty at that time.
I started working at this company. The Miss Globe title and crown were given to one of the girls who competed in the beauty festival at that time.
According to Charlie See, he created the Miss Globe title in the competition in Lake Winnipesauke by taking inspiration from the name of the Boston Globe newspaper. Charlie was a truly magnificent person. His ideas inspired people.
That is why Charlie See’s death was a great loss for me. I worked as a photographer in theaters and on film sets for a while. I was taking photos for posters of Hollywood artists. During this time, I established deep ties with many Hollywood stars.
After Charlie See’s death, the company was completely abandoned. No heirs of Charlie See have emerged. With the encouragement of our friends, I adopted and revived the company Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate. For this reason, everyone called me Charlie See. No one mentioned the name Li Sun written on my ID. I used to write Charlie See in pencil under the title Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate in legal letters. After the Miss Globe brand became international, organizers in the countries liked this name even more. Thus, I became known worldwide as Charlie See.”
THE RISE OF THE MISS GLOBE CONTEST
The ‘Miss Globe International’ contest really took off when it was organized by Suha Özgermi, the President of Özgermi Tekstil, one of the leading companies in the Turkish textile industry.
Süha Özgermi is the person who acquired the franchise rights of Miss Globe and some other brands in 1988. (For more information about Suha Özgermi, go to the Key People heading.)
Since its establishment, Miss Globe International has organized international contests in more than 20 countries on 7 continents.
After the 78th Miss Globe International contest held in Antalya, Turkey in 2003, Süha Özgermi announced that she would not renew the franchise agreement of the Miss Globe International contest, which she held for 15 years, and then had her jubilee.
The Miss Globe International contests were produced in Turkey for 15 years starting from 1988 until 2003. This production was based on a franchise agreement between Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate and Özgermi Textile Company. However, until 2004, the headquarters of the Miss Globe Organization was in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA. It operated under the Festival of Beauty Organization.
Thereupon, Li Sun, the legal owner of the Miss Globe International brand, sent a letter to the national directors via fax, announcing that he was looking for a new franchise for the Miss Globe International competition.
At the beginning of 2004, Petri Bozo from Albania was the first national director to apply for this announcement. Petri Bozo was organizing the ‘Miss Shqiperia’ competition in Albania under Deliart Associate. Deliart Associate reached an agreement with Li Sun and announced that Miss Globe International was ready to host the franchise competition in Albania. According to his statement, he had received the support of the Albanian Ministry of Tourism. This new agreement was announced to the public at a joint press conference held in Tirana.
On the other hand, Li Sun started correspondence with RCA Global Media Company from Turkey for the complete transfer of the ownership rights of the Miss Globe International brand registered in the USPTO under the name Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate.
RCA Global Media Company was a strong company operating in the media and advertising sector in Turkey. At that time, it was publishing 1 daily newspaper, 4 weekly and 2 monthly magazines with national broadcasting.
An agreement was reached after mutual negotiations. Thus, the Miss Globe, Miss Globe, Miss Globe International and Miss Globe Beauty Pageant brands were taken over by Rasim Aydın, the owner of RCA Global Media Company.
The legal procedures received ‘A Postil’ approval from the California Secretary of State on May 27, 2004. Since Rasim Aydın is a Turkish citizen, the relevant transfer transaction was approved and legally recognized by the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles on May 28, 2004.
With the legal document prepared on May 27, 2004, Rasim Aydın, the owner of the Turkish media company, became the legal owner of 34 separate brands registered in the USPTO and in some other countries under the name of Charlie See d/b/a Charlie See & Associate Company, including Miss Globe International, Mister Globe International, Miss Tourism, Miss Cosmopolitan Miss Bikini, Model of Models Dream Girl Beauty of The Year.
Following this transfer transaction, Rasim Aydın moved the management center of the brand from Hollywood to Istanbul.
On the other hand, based on the franchise agreement signed by Li Sun at the beginning of the year, the first Miss Globe International competition in Albania was produced by Deliart Associate on September 14, 2004. The Durrës Amphitheatre, which dates back to ancient times, was chosen for the competition. This process continued in Albania until October 1, 2007, based on two-year periodic franchise agreements.
Li Sun, who was ill due to old age, died on October 2, 2007 while sleeping in his Hollywood home. After Li Sun’s death, his wife Anna extended the franchise agreement with Deliart Associate for two more years.
With this extension, the competition would be hosted in Albania until 2009.
RCA Global Media Company in Turkey made a press release in 2009 and announced that it would directly produce the international competition starting in 2010. Thus, the franchise rights of the Miss Globe International brand were removed from the hands of Deliart Associate and Petri Bozo in Albania.
The competition was organized directly by RCA Global Entertainment Co. – Rasim Aydın in TRNC in 2010-2013. Cratos Premium Hotel in Kyrenia, Kaya Artemis Hotel in Gazi Magosa and Golden Tulip & Paşha Hotel in Lefkoşa Miss Globe International competition
