CROWNED | The 91th Miss Globe International
TONI ALYESSA JAAFAR HIPOLITO
from Philippines
The 9st Miss Globe International title and crown was given to Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito from the Philippines. In a statement made by the Miss Globe Organization, it was announced that ‘Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito’ deserved the 91st Miss Globe International title with the votes of more than 1 million fans in an online vote.
As is known, in 2015, ‘Lamberto Ricalde’, the national director of the Miss Globe Organization in the Philippines, gave the Miss Globe Philippines title to ‘Toni Alyessa Hipolito’. With this title, Toni Alyessa Hipolito will participate in the 91st Miss Globe International Beauty Pageant to be held in Turkey in the fall as the representative of the Philippines. Following Iraq, which is Turkey’s neighbor, Syria was also attacked by the US. Due to the resulting authority gap, Syria and Iraq were invaded by terrorist organizations.
For this reason, more than 7 million civilians crossed the border and took refuge in Turkey, and security problems arose in the region. The Turkish government has temporarily suspended many international artistic and social events due to the influx of refugees, citing security concerns.
Therefore, the Miss Globe Organization paused the competition calendar and waited. As the incidents increased day by day, the event was completely canceled. The Miss Globe Organization decided to have the contestants voted by the public on social media. ‘Toni Alyessa Hipolito, who will represent the Philippines in the competition in Turkey, received over 1 million votes on social media. After the voting closed, the organization decided to award the 91st Miss Globe International title to Toni Alyessa Hipolito, a participant from the Philippines. Rasim Aydın, the President of the Miss Globe Organization, wrote a letter to Toni Alyessa Hipolito informing her of the result and decision.
Aydin told Hipolito in his letter:

WHY WAS A REFERENCE VOTE HELD?
As you know, the 91st Miss Globe International competition was to be held in Turkey with the participation of 80 countries, but the war in Syria and the migration problems caused by this problem, terrorism threatening Europe and the risk of war in the Mediterranean region made the event impossible and the program was suspended due to the government’s security concerns. However, during this time, the contestant photos on our legal website and social media accounts were not removed.
Since the process was taking a long time, the stakeholders of the competition program could not wait any longer. The social network administrators of the Miss Globe Organization decided that the 91st Miss Globe International competition would be concluded by public voting over the internet. As a result of the voting that lasted 2 months, more than 5 million people worldwide participated in the voting and exercised their right to choose the participants. As a result of the digital voting, Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito’s photos received more than 1,000,000 likes. More than half of the participants in the voting were her fans in the Philippines. The competition board came together to discuss this incident and reviewed the voting records. It confirmed that Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito deserved the title of 91st Miss Globe International. Thus, it was decided in the minutes that it honored Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito, who participated on behalf of the Philippines, with the title and crown of the 91st Miss Globe International.
Rasim Aydın, the global owner of the competition, expressed the following views while explaining the situation. “We accept that the juries on duty are actually the symbol of solidarity for the professional group they represent or for a specific cause. In other words, they are representatives of nobility. Here, real people have expressed their appreciation and honored Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito with the title and crown of the 91st Miss Globe International.
Our board is sure that under these circumstances, giving the crown to Toni Alyessa Jaafar Hipolito is the most appropriate decision. The Philippines has always sent a representative since 1988, when Miss Globe International was organized in Turkey. Maricar Balagtas (Ferdie Arciaga), who previously represented the Philippines, was also honored in 2001. She carried our crown with pride. Our organization asked Toni Alyessa Hipolito how the Philippines and the world are going through a social process and whether she has diagnosed the problems. Toni would say the following. I see that the biggest problem of the countries is financial crises. The reason for this is that the common currency, the Dollar, is under the control of the US and the countries do not receive a share from the production income of this currency. Therefore, the dollar that is put on the market and called common is not actually common. It is a commercial product of the US. And all income flows to the US.
Thus, countries outside the US are forced to transfer all their income and the added value they create to the US. With this system, no country outside the US has a chance to improve its situation. Global financial crises are a common occurrence for the Philippines and other countries in the same class. This situation prevents companies from operating safely and having a long life. Employees often suffer severely from this situation. Lack of money causes companies to close down and people to become unemployed. In addition, inequality in income distribution within the country and in the region increases poverty. In my country, there is the seventh most populous island in the world, Mindanao.
This island is the second largest island in the Philippines after Luzon and is part of an island group of the same name, which also includes the Sulu Archipelago in the southern part of the Archipelago. According to the census, the population of Mindanao is 26,252,442, while the estimated population of the entire island group is 27,021,036. I want to touch on this island in more depth. Because I believe that the problems here are an important part of our country’s problems. I volunteer to solve it.
It is followed by Zamboanga City (population 977,234),
Cagayan de Oro (population 728,402),
General Santos (population 697,315),
Butuan (population 372,910),
Iligan (population 363,115)
and Cotabato City (population 325,079).
Approximately 70% of the region’s residents identify as Christians, while 24% identify as Muslims.
Mindanao is considered the Philippines’ largest breadbasket. Muslims living here want autonomy and do not accept communal living. This creates factions and prevents internal peace. It creates security concerns for the future. The government has not solved the island’s infrastructure problems, and a louder voice of rebellion is rising from here.
There is no infrastructure, economic growth, education and other social projects. Thus, the quality of life of Muslims is decreasing and ignorance is accelerating. This situation is one of the biggest obstacles to development. What saddens me is that although we know the problem, the solution is so difficult and misleading to achieve.
