The Grand Jury, consisting of international members, announced Miss Almeda Abazi, a 16-year-old university student from Albania, as the winner of the pageant. The degrees she had been awarded in those contests paved the way for her to join the Miss Globe International Beauty Pageant as the delegate of Albania. What kind of changes has taken place in your communication with people since you were elected as Miss Albania?
The fact that I had been elected as Miss Albania turned out to be a highly significant milestone for my future. It has strengthened my communication with people further. I have to be more careful because I will carry the crown of Miss Globe for one year.
How did your friends react to the fact that you had been crowned as Miss Globe?
The show coincided with the end of the school term. As the contest was relayed on TV, most of my friends watched the event on TV. Therefore, they congratulated me either by sending SMS or by directly calling. From an objective point of view, a person thinks that everything will immediately change after experiencing such a wonderful event. It seems that there will be a change in everything. However, I can say that it does not. I continue to live my life in exactly the same way. Just a circle of interest emerges around you. When I met with my friends after the contest, we were intimate as we had been in the past. I just had to behave more carefully.
What does Winning the Miss Globe International crown mean to you?
What kind of changes shall take place in your life from now on?
Do you think of being in the show business?
Beauty is a relative concept. For me, having been created as a beautiful person is a gift granted by God. At a young age, you understand it from the words people around you say and the approaches towards you. You become a center of attraction. This situation automatically starts to change your position after a certain time. You continuously draw interest. It is a natural process by itself. It is impossible for you to change this process. As a result, you unconsciously find yourself in the show business within the circle created by such an interest. You realize that more people rush into the places you are in. These were the developments that led me to join Miss Albania Beauty Pageant as Miss Tirana.
Prior to such developments, I had taken a step towards the show business. I was the presenter in the show of the famous Turkish folk dances community ‘Fire of Anatolia” in Tirana. I can say that it was the most significant responsibility I had taken up to that time. I successfully managed it although I was inexperienced. I hope the offers from the show business continue.
In which branches do you think the Miss Globe Crown shall improve you?
The second good news I have received from the moment I was crowned as Miss Globe is that I have been awarded a 4-year scholarship at Marin Barleti University. Thanks to this scholarship, I relieved my family of a considerable financial burden. Now, my priority is education. I will try to improve myself in the show business while I continue to study by pulling out all the stops. It may be working as a model or making a TV program or acting in a series or cinema film. Besides, some people say that I have a good voice for singing. As a matter of fact, I have not planned my career yet. I need my family to guide me in this regard. I believe that I will be successful after determining the profession that will contribute to my career in the future and continue to study in that direction.
Which attributes are necessary for a girl to be awarded the Miss Globe crown?
Miss Globe Organization has developed many criteria with the experience of long years. I may not express them exactly. However, from an objective point of view, such criteria are perceived to be having an absolutely beautiful physical appearance. Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, having the body sizes of 90-60-90, which is the symbol of physical beauty, is not enough for winning the crown.
Including the appearance of the costume you wear on you, your manners, your attitudes and behaviors, your reactions to events, your communication ability in the society, creating a prudent sincerity, your entrepreneurship in solving the problems in the society you live in, and having a strong personality, everything is followed up and scored by the jury. When you become aware of this situation, you have already been at the final stage and have to demonstrate your stage performance.
In fact, nobody tells you that such attributes are scored. All instructors explain the traits a queen should possess. Then, choreographers make your ready for a stage performance with a team spirit in discipline for a show lasting two and a half hours. The girls that come from different cultures of the world find themselves trying to adapt themselves to a new atmosphere by starting a training having lots of strict rules. There is no leisure time. Visits, mass trips, training, sporting, beauty culture, dance take all of our time. In addition, diet is added to our eating habits.
Do you think that the compliance of body sizes with the contest criteria is directly connected to exercise and diet? Or, is physical beauty a gift of God?
I think the compliance of body shape with the beauty criteria is partly genetic. However, in any case, I have to express that the aesthetic body shape, which offers this beauty, should be preserved by doing sports. I am the daughter of an athlete father. He was an Olympic champion and, in my childhood, my life was full of sports. My father, Muhamet Abazi, had been a dance instructor for 22 years. Sport is necessary for all age groups.
Beautiful girls state mostly that they are disturbed by men. As an elected beauty queen, have you ever been disturbed by men?
In this regard, I can say that if a person was born as a female, she has been naturally in men’s sphere of interest. She has to cope with the proposals continuously made by men. Taking part in the contest or being awarded the crown does not change anything. It changes only the social class you live in and you encounter every day. New proposals continue to be made. Of course, new fans interested in you because you are an elected beauty emerge. If you have appeared on TV and become famous, you are analyzed further no matter how or who you are.
How do you react when you receive a proposal from a man?
– I have overcome such teasing by being indifferent and pretending as if I have not heard.
What is the best compliment you have received up to this time?
To tell the truth, I have received many compliments but I think the best one is ‘Angel’. The fact that people address me with this adjective includes meanings beyond being beautiful. If people call me ‘Angel’, it points out that the innocence and goodness in me have been discovered by others. And it makes me happy.
Do the girls compliment you? Or, are they jealous of you?
I receive compliments from girls. However, some of them make negative comments.
We know that you have been living in Turkey for a few years. In the comments about Turkey I have heard thus far, it is said that she is a traditionalist country. What is your opinion on the traditions of Turkish people?
I can easily say that the years I have spent in Turkey are the most beautiful period of my life. The discipline and order in that country have helped my personality to improve. You express that Turkish people are traditionalists but it is not true. You can see the traces of advanced educational facilities and disciplined business life and all norms of modern life in Turkey. For Turkey, where a well-established culture and modern life intersect, I can say that she is a fairytale country in Europe. I have strong friendships and well-established connections. Turkey is a country offering easy transportation to every corner of the world and a high standard in cinema, television and other entertainment business. If you are engaged in cinema, for me, Yeşilçam is what Hollywood or Bollywood is. If you are engaged in entertainment or fashion, Istanbul is what Paris, New York or Milano is.
Do you believe in God? Do you worship?
Of course, yes. Take a look around you. How can it happen by itself? It is not possible to tell I strictly fulfill all religious orders but I have a strong faith in God. I try to worship as far as in me lies. It makes my personality stronger to believe in the existence of God. It enables me to think twice in the presence of a situation.
